Sometimes it’s hard to see the possibilities of a kitchen remodel through the outdated design before you. But, not for this homeowner. Kristina saw the potential in her kitchen and partnered with her architect sister, Alisa, to design a beautiful new space. Together, they came up with a stunning design and brought it to CliqStudios.
Taking an outdated kitchen from arched raised panel doors to a Scandinavian dream is no easy task. Before, the kitchen had partial overlay cabinets with exposed hinges and an outdated design. It was clear that this layout needed to be re-worked to function properly.
Kristina partnered with CliqStudios designer, Elise St. Michell, to complete her kitchen. She spoke about the goals and style of the project.
“The overall look we wanted to achieve was Scandinavian with some Bohemian touches. We wanted a bright white kitchen with lots of wood elements. The samples that Elise sent me for the wood cabinet tones were super helpful in making our choice. Ultimately, we decided to spice things up by doing white uppers and wooden lowers to incorporate the elements we wanted and to make the kitchen unique.”
The new kitchen design was finished in the Signature Plus Newport door in Lily and Natural. Warm wood tones, minimal wall cabinets, and black accents brought home the Scandinavian style while woven light fixtures and unique dishes added a touch of Bohemian.
Kristina talked about her experience working with her designer, Elise. “It was wonderful. Elise was very communicative and responsive throughout the design process. I think we tweaked the design plan several times, and Elise was super patient and non-judgmental. She remained very neutral throughout the process and really listened to my needs while also offering practical solutions.”
“She (Elise) was able to be creative in getting all of the must haves that we needed while being mindful of the dimensions we had to work with.”
The updated design now includes upgrades like a pull-out trash cabinet, a built-in microwave, plenty of drawer storage, and roll-out trays. That’s not including glass wall cabinets, black cabinet hardware, or the white quartz countertops with a waterfall edge. New additions to the kitchen provide a natural feel with the stone tile backsplash introduced in the beverage bar, and natural cabinets with woven light fixtures and wood floating shelves.
