According to the 2024 Houzz U.S. Kitchen Trends Study, 25 percent of people remodeling prefer wood stained cabinets which is up 1 percent from 2023.

2. Colorful Kitchens & Bathrooms 

As you may have seen in our 2024 color of the year blog, vibrant colors and earth-toned hues are back- especially green. This was clear as day at KBIS with endless amounts of green, teal and turquoise bathroom fixtures in addition to colorful cabinets. Some products even offered decorative fluting details. Green is on the rise with a special focus on sage tones.

Top cabinet colors for 2024 include white, wood, gray, blue and green. With a color palette like this, there’s a lot of flexibility to create vibrant and inviting kitchen and bath designs. Earth tones are incredibly versatile, fun to work with and timeless if done right.

 

3. Minimal Backsplashes 

It looks like minimal backsplashes are here to stay for a while. This trend has carried through the last few years with solid surface or quartz slab backsplashes increasing in popularity. Although kitchen and bath design is transitioning to include more decorative details than previous years, there is still a need for simplicity, increased function and cleanability.

5. Modern Transitional Designs 

There is no one-size-fits-all design style. However, based on the Houzz 2024 Kitchen Trends Study, modern transitional designs are coming in first place. Of all kitchen remodels being completed, 26 percent are finished in the modern transitional style. If you aren’t familiar with it, this style is a beautiful combination of traditional and modern elements.

10. Dedicated Beverage Stations 

Whether you want a coffee bar, liquor bar, or smoothie bar, dedicated beverage stations are the way to go. This 2024 design trend is an easy add-on and all you need is an open corner or alcove. Even with modern transitional style, more homeowners want decorative kitchen lighting. Decorative lighting is relatively easy to switch out and less expensive than replacing a detailed backsplash. Everyone loves the idea of making the kitchen a more efficient place to work. Based on the 2024 Houzz Study, almost 30 percent of remodeling homeowners want appliances with wifi connectivity. New integrated appliance features now include voice activation, advanced sensors that can measure food temperature, remote monitoring and control and even the ability to turn off appliances through an app.
