Recently, natural and organic designs have been rising in popularity. People are spending more time in their homes than ever before, and trends have been leaning towards bringing the outdoors in. And for good reason. Natural materials are known to reduce stress and create a more lived-in, comfortable environment. Because these earthy selections are less flashy, this design aesthetic tends to be more relaxed and modern.

Modern organic style is not only defined by its beauty, but also by sustainability. Eco-friendly textiles and materials are better for homeowners and the environment. This can include products like eco-friendly quartz or recycled glass countertops, paint with low VOCs, and reclaimed wood for floating shelves etc. Whether you just love the look or want to embrace the lifestyle, here are 4 examples ranging in style to give you some inspiration.

1. Modern & Minimal Style

In this subtle kitchen design, the overall aesthetic is simple and clean. From one color throughout to the subtly warm and intriguing wood cabinets with complementing floors, this space is both modern and organic. This design has lots of natural light to brighten the room, wood and metal countertop stools, and even some plants to bring the outdoors in. Where there are white cabinets, the designer used gold hardware to add warmth.

2. Customized Earthy Style

Many of today’s modern organic designs, like this one, include white cabinetry because of its clean approach. White makes it easy to brighten up any kitchen while the warm cabinetry brings an earthy, casual feel. This designer added wood floating shelves, large copper dome pendant lights, and dark woven counter stools to ground the design. A creamy half-waterfall countertop and matching slab backsplash bring in even more of nature’s influence making this design beautiful and cozy.

3. Elevated & Warm Style

This kitchen design is the perfect example of an elevated earthy and organic style. Medium-tone inset wood cabinets with a custom dishwasher panel and furniture-style wall cabinets were catered to this homeowner’s personal style. By using gold cabinet hardware, the designer easily added warmth and glitz that still blended well with the cabinet color. The stone countertops and matching slab backsplash have just enough natural veining to show off while adding an earthy feel. Lastly, a simple tapered white kitchen hood gives the space tailored style, but still allows the cabinets and countertops to be the focal point.

4. Naturally Inviting Style

Although this design has some Scandinavian and Boho characteristics, it’s still a great example of the earthy organic kitchen style. Among many earthy details, the most obvious are the natural maple base cabinets and hex stone backsplash. These two elements bring nature inside and bring an almost instant spa-like feeling of relaxation. Modern details include the shaker door style with another waterfall quartz countertop, and floating wood shelves with black metal brackets.

The easiest way to create a beautiful and uplifting environment is to start with the color scheme. Use colors that can only be found in nature. This could include cream, olive green, gray, brown and taupe etc. Once the color scheme is developed, all the cabinetry and accessories will easily fall into place.

Keep it simple. Modern organic designs are clean and streamlined so bright colors or loud patterns will look out of place. Accessorize your space with wicker baskets, linen upholstered dining room chairs, wood cutting boards, and plants.

Try sustainable products that will make your home healthier and keep clutter to a minimum. The beauty of this style is that having less things can often help declutter your mind. Knowing that your home is free of chemicals and clean is enough to make anyone happier.
