Berkeley Quartersawn Oak Lynx Custom Kitchen Cabinets

Quartersawn Oak is quartered and then cut at a 90-degree angle to the growth ring of the tree. This process exposes a beautiful aspect of the grain called “flake”. In addition to flake, quartersawn grain pattern is vertical and close-knit. Its color ranges from light tan and pink to medium dark red and brown. Quartersawn oak is a dense, heavy wood that is very strong and resists shock. NOTE: For flat panel door styles, the center panel back is consistently ‘Grade A’ red oak, however, cut of material varies using flat sawn, rift sawn, and quartersawn veneers.

Lynx stain aims to deliver the look of white oak utilizing the more available quartersawn red oak paired with a unique finishing process.  This innovative technique starts with the application of a thin layer of specially formulated finish to mute the inherit pink-red undertones typically found in the red oak wood species.  After a layer of stain is applied, the last step includes a satin finish topcoat that provides long lasting beauty and durability.  The final product leans more closely to the appearance of white oak than red oak.  There may still be signs of pink-red undertone in the final product which is not considered a defect warranty replacement.
