Viva Magenta Pantone Color of the Year 2023

Viva Magenta 18-1750 is Pantone’s color of the year. This hue is vibrant, energetic, and renewing to any home. Developed from the red family and coming straight from nature, ‘it vibrates with vim and vigor’. It promotes fearlessness and optimistic celebration in any environment.

2. Natural Stone Slab Backsplash

Homeowners loved the beauty and simplicity of the 2022 slab backsplash trend so much that we’re keeping it. Calming and natural materials remain popular as ever, and the chicness of stone slabs is still enamoring. Additionally, the functionality is a big bonus. Slab backsplashes are not only gorgeous, but they make it easy to clean since there are no grout lines to work around.

3. Gold Accents

Bringing warmth into your kitchen design will be easy with gold accents. Whether it’s through pendant lights, bar stools, cabinet hardware, or sink faucets, this finish will create an inviting atmosphere and add major wow-factor.

Earthy color palettes are back in the form of caramels, terra cottas, deep corals. Homeowners are still desiring a soothing and cozy aesthetic that brings restoration from the outside world. Other earthy colors are also still popular like deep greens and rich browns.

5. Smart Kitchen Technology

It shouldn’t be a surprise that with smartphones and houses come smart kitchens. Making the cooking and cleaning experience easier is every homeowner's dream. That’s why we will see many more appliances like refrigerators that can be controlled via phone apps or voice control.

Most people love the idea of more kitchen storage. This year we will see a rise in popularity of butler’s pantries. Not just that, but hidden or concealed pantries that can act as a food prep area, additional kitchen storage, or a hidden coffee bar. Some ways we will see these pantries concealed is with matching cabinet doors or disguised entrances.

7. High-Gloss Wood Finishes

High-gloss wood finishes are not only great for modern kitchen designs, but they are also great for anyone who wants a more polished look. High-gloss finishes bring a certain element of elegance while the wood finish adds to the warmth we desire.

8. Large Islands for Dining

Gone are the days of overly formal dining rooms. Large islands for dining are starting to take their place. This year we will see one large island or two islands with seating to create a more relaxed and casual dining experience in the place we all love to meet- the kitchen!

9. Organic Product Selections

As with last year, we love the coziness and warmth that organic materials bring to our spaces. These will come in the form of marble and granite surfaces, and natural eco-friendly products like wood cabinetry and metal accents. Green tones will also continue to grow in popularity and be used on larger items in the home like cabinetry.

10. Muted & Pastel Hues

The most popular colors of 2023, outside of Pantone’s color, consist mostly of muted tones. Light pinks and rose tones will be used much more frequently because they create a tranquil and healing atmosphere. Pastels will become a hit as homeowners slowly start inviting more color back into the home for more elegant and sophisticated spaces.

11. Handmade Tile

Nothing says character and personality like handmade tile. Backsplashes with custom tiles will give off a more interesting, organic look with depth and texture. One of the most attractive features about handmade tile is that it’s not so uniform, so every space will be unique.

12. Saturated Blues

Even with all the muted tones trending this year, bright and saturated blue made it through. This color is bold, beautiful, and chic. Many will find themselves pairing it with high-gloss wood finishes, antiques and family heirlooms whether that’s in a dining room, kitchen, or library.
