Experience the elegance of a modern-luxe mountain home in Carbondale, Colorado. Cait Pappas of Nest Out West did it again with her client’s beautiful mountain retreat, now known as the Aspen Valley Sky Ranch. This massive 4,000 square foot project took a year to complete and countless trips to the property, transforming it into a luxury Airbnb, retreat space, and wedding rental property.

Out With the Old, in With the New 

The original state of the Aspen Valley Sky Ranch was drastically different from what it looks like now. Cait said, “It’s a 4,000 square foot beautiful footprint of a home that was just very dated. It had some funky layout things going on”. She continued, “It was a gut remodel, and we are doing a massive transformation to this house. It’s going to be stunning.”

Originally, the kitchen was completely outdated and covered in gold-toned pine paneling. Fluorescent lighting covered the ceiling, and the layout was an awkward and oversized U-shape design. The rest of the kitchen consisted of raised panel cabinetry with no wall storage, golden oak wood trim, and a disproportionately small island worktable.

Luxuriously Updated & Inviting 

Cait and her CliqStudios designer, Shantel Tempel, worked together to create the best layout for the space. The kitchen was designed in the Signature Plus Newport door style in Lily and Chai. Together, the cabinetry paired with brass hardware and faucets, Fantasy Brown marble countertops, and a custom hammered brass hood, created a luxurious warmth to the kitchen design. 


Some unique aspects of the kitchen remodel included an over-sized 14-½' long, paneled island, furniture-style stacked wall cabinets with glass for display, two gorgeous farmhouse sinks, and a matching marble backsplash with a stone ledge for décor. Every detail in this kitchen was meticulously thought out and it shows.

During the design and installation process, Cait expressed what it was like working on the project. “These are very long days, but they will be very, very worthwhile once all is said and done”. In the end Cait discussed how happy she was with the results.
