Working as a pair, Ryan and Tiffany Otte provide design-build services for investors and sellers.

That’s right – our June Contractor of the Month is a duo. Ryan, usually covered in sawdust and paint, and Tiffany, a design ninja and realtor, provide seamless, end-to-end services for homeowners and investors preparing properties for sale. On the construction side, Ryan can work with tighter margins knowing they will have the listing. Tiffany, after establishing the design,  spends a high percentage of her time on project management, ensuring a smooth closing. It is their goal to make the home buying/selling experience as satisfying as a trip to Disney World.

The system works. They recently listed a home for far more than the listing owner thought it was worth – it sold before the first week was out; the owner was delighted. A St. Paul condo featured in our before-and-after gallery was sold before it was finished.

When discussing their repeated purchases from CliqStudios, Ryan says there is simply no way to describe the benefit of working with a company that goes the extra mile. He cites designer Melissa Thill’s flexibility and availability through the installation phase and the quick response when a cabinet was damaged in transit. Tiffany finds the cabinet style selections are perfect for her customers, and the ability to modify cabinets allows her to do exactly what she wants in any space. On quality, they agree the cabinets have received many compliments and no complaints.

The couple met when Tiffany, preparing for qualification as a highway snowplow driver, drew Ryan as an instructor. (She completed her only winter as a driver with a perfect record.) Ryan, in construction at some level since he was 15, was owner and project manager of a contracting business focused on working with investors. In order to better serve his clients, Ryan moved his construction business (and Tiffany) from a rural hobby farm to a condo in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The condo was simply, unbelievably ugly. But Tiffany assured Ryan they could make it beautiful. The project drew attention from residents and building management. Word spread of the couple’s ability to transform a ho-hum condo into an amazing home, and they became overnight stars in the Minneapolis-St. Paul urban housing market. Condo rehab currently represents about 50% of their business; the balance focuses on large single-family properties.
