Two-Tone Kitchen Design with Maple and Cherry Traditional Cabinets
This kitchen design is a testament to the beauty of finely finished hardwoods. Perimeter cabinets are maple in a traditional raised panel style, with glass mullion doors providing display space for art glass and special dishware. The long center island, built of cherry cabinets in the same traditional door style, has a dark granite countertop that extends to provide seating for five.
Large ceramic tiles in the floor and backsplash are in warm tones and natural patterns. A touch of custom, a band of mosaic tiles wraps the kitchen backsplash. Bar stools are cherry to match the island, with seats upholstered in blue velvet. Simple stainless bar pulls lightly decorate the cabinets without distracting.
Carlton cabinets, the traditional raised-panel style pictured in both maple and cherry, feature solid hardwood doors, drawer fronts and frames. The beauty of the cabinets goes far beneath that surface, however, and includes all-plywood box construction (no particle board) and high-quality hinges and full-extension drawer glides.More Photos
