Modern Kitchen Features Pantry Wall of Cherry Cabinets

RockfordCherry Russet

A great kitchen design is both functional and beautiful. In the example pictured below, the pantry wall, formed of matching tall cherry cabinets on either side of the counter-depth refrigerator provides a sense of symmetry (an example of the design strategy referred to as massing.) The high peninsula separating kitchen and dining room is finished on the end and back with cherry panels matching the Shaker cabinets in the kitchen. On the end of the hidden counter, a low-height section of open-sided countertop supported by a single rectangular island leg can serve as either a table for two or an alternate-height work space. A single glass-door cabinet across the room provides a focal point without overwhelming the simply styled space. Modern glass pendant lights add a touch of whimsy, while the sink overlooks the family room and wall of windows.

A touch of personal style, horizontally oriented bar pulls on the pantry cabinet doors, emphasize the unique nature of this modern space.
