Maple Shaker Cabinets in Transitional Kitchen Design
The photos below illustrate how delightful a transitional kitchen design can be, carrying as it does elements of tradition and free-form personalization. Natural maple cabinets in a simple Shaker style provide a soft backdrop that complements the industrial-style peninsula pendants without competing. Granite countertop includes warm tones that blend with the maple cabinetry as well as near-black to set off the trip on the stainless appliances.
A single mullion-door display cabinet focuses attention and adds interest. Glass pendant decorative lighting over the island and sink adds a touch of whimsy. The cabinets rise to a sloped ceiling, accented with a two-tone paint treatment. A lazy Susan base (under the glass-door cabinet by the sink) provides easy access to that tricky inside corner. Simple brushed stainless bow pulls on cabinet doors and drawers provide a sense of continuity.
The refrigerator enclosure and cabinet have been pulled forward to create a perfectly sized enclosure. The peninsula counter, lit from above by a skylight, hosts green plants, Japanese pottery and a traditional steamer.More Photos
