His-and-Hers Vanity, Soaking Tub and Glass Shower

DaytonPainted White

The bath shown in the photo below is a stunning example of how a remodel can bring interior design into the 21st century. Oversized black tiles on the floor and walls provide a dramatic backdrop and surround for the freestanding soaking tub and curbless shower. A double vanity is built from white Shaker cabinets, with the undermount sinks separated by a drawer base and topped with a white marble counter and tall modern stainless faucets. The tub is surrounded by large picture windows with accordian shades. His and her white terry robes hang in the dry-off area shared by bath and shower. The long vanity counter has near-black and earth tone colors on an off-white base, adding interest and warmth to the remodeled bath design.

A ten-foot long ceiling high mirror above the vanity reflects the door, which reveals the home’s traditional millwork, including raised-panel doors and wide door casing. Shaker cabinets are a designer’s first choice when, as in this remodeled bathroom, integrating a modern design into a traditional home.
