Kitchen of the Week – Madison, CT
Melissa Thill Rockford Painted White Madison, CT
Kitchen Design Story
This was a very special project for everyone here at CliqStudios. Designer and Pro Channel Specialist Melissa Thill got the unusual opportunity to create this kitchen for The House That Social Media Built!
THTSMB is the brain child of Connecticut-based Realtor Nicole White and house flipper Mike Riccio. Initially, they just wanted to incorporate social media somehow into their next home remodeling project. But it all came together when Nicole started seeking feedback on her personal Facebook profile about what kinds of colors and finishes they should use on their upcoming flip. Suggestions and responses started pouring in, and soon they’d started a separate Facebook page just for the project. People started chiming in not just from the area, but from all corners of the country, and from all over the world! After that first house, it was clear that their success was no flash in the pan, and that there would be many, many more houses that social media built!
Nicole and Mike now have a regular formula when they start on a project. They post several options for wall colors, lighting fixtures, or other accessories to their Facebook and Instagram accounts. Their followers vote on their preferred options, Nicole tabulates the results, and voila!
Some home flippers are notorious for cutting corners and using sub-standard materials. However, Nicole and Mike at The House That Social Media Built pride themselves on only remodeling homes using best-in-class furnishings and finishes. This is one reason why CliqStudios was chosen for their latest home remodel in Madison, Connecticut. Melissa used our premium-grade Rockford-style cabinets to create this wonderful gathering and entertaining space. Several CliqStudios favorites were built into this design, including our famous pull-out trash can cabinet, and the Super Sink Base that really lives up to its name when it comes to keeping things organized.
After Mike and Nicole removed the wall between the kitchen and dining room, they wanted a truly unique touch that would set this home and kitchen apart. Because of the large range hood and kitchen windows, there was only room for two small upper wall cabinets. To make up for this loss of storage, lots of deep drawers for pots and pans were added to the large L-shaped kitchen island. This island also “hugs” the real stunner in this kitchen, the built-in banquet seating. A fully custom design by Melissa, it creates a very cozy dining area, and is also a perfect example of the flexibility of CliqStudios “semi-custom” cabinetry.
